Born 560 AD in Magh Schléct, Ireland, Saint Dallán Forgaill was an early Christian Irish poet and saint. He is known for his authorship of the Amhra Coluim Cille (Elegy of Saint Columba) and Rop Tú Mo Baile (Be Thou My Vision). In 640 AD, Dallán was visiting his friend, Canall Cael, at his monastery on Inishkeel. The monastery, unbeknownst to him, was being raided by pirates, who reportedly beheaded him. He was buried on Inishkeel in the same grave as his friend.
Dallán Forgaill's first song Be Thou My Vision released on Thu Jan 01 1970.
