Dale Nixon

About Dale Nixon

“Dale Nixon” is a fictional moniker originally used by Greg Ginn to hide the fact that he played bass on the album My War. The name has since been used by many artists (typically in the punk spectrum of music), usually as a way to avoid using a name that can’t legally be credited on the album.

Other examples of use of the Dale Nixon pseudonym:
Dave Grohl on the album King Buzzo
Brian Baker on the album Four on the Floor

Ginn revived the Dale Nixon pseudonym twice for Black Flag revivals, in 2002 to facetiously identify a sequencer that was playing bass parts onstage with Ginn, and in 2013 to credit the bass parts he played on Black Flag’s “reunion” album What The…. During the latter period, Ginn endorsed and egged on a Facebook fan group called “Stop Dale Nixon”.
