About Da-iCE

Da-iCE (ダイス), pronounced as “dice”, is a five-member male vocal and dance group that originally formed in 2011. Consisting of two vocalists with a four-octave vocal range and three dancers, the group represents the five sides of a cube, with the sixth side representing the fans, who they call a-i (read as “I”) and means “love” in Japanese.

The members, which consist of Souta Hanamura (花村想太), Taiki Kudo (工藤大輝), Toru Iwaoka (岩岡徹), Hayate Wada (和田颯), and Yudai Ohno (大野雄大), were gathered and formed by their then management and were originally called Blackout, but the name was rejected as it meant a power outage. They debuted with the self-titled EP Da-iCE in 2012 and became the opening act for labelmates AAA’s tour that same year.

The tour with AAA gave the group much needed exposure, allowing them to go on their first tour and sign with Universal Music Group Japan’s Universal Sigma by the end of 2013.

In 2014, the group made their major label with the single “SHOUT IT OUT”. The track went on to place fourth on the Oricon Weekly Charts. The group would continue to release singles and albums – their final album with the label being a Best Of album, appropriately entitled Da-iCE BEST – with Universal before signing on to Avex Trax in June of 2020, where they released their first single with the label, titled “DREAMIN' ON” in August of 2020. It was used as the twenty-third opening theme song for the anime ワンピース (One Piece), based on the 1997 manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda ( 尾田 栄一郎).
