Most people know D'arcy as the original bass player from the Smashing Pumpkins. A bit sarcastic, sullen, and shy in interviews, she remains to be somewhat of a mystery.
She was a founding member of the band along with Billy Corgan and James Iha who began recording together as the Smashing Pumpkins in 1988. Her involvement began when she became involved in an argument with a random guy outside a Chicago nightclub who just happened to be Billy Corgan. She stayed with the band for 12 years and is the credited bassist on five Pumpkins albums. Her presence is immediately felt within the first seconds of the Pumpkins' first official single, “I Am One”.
Following the Smashing Pumpkins initial breakup in 2000, she has, for the most part, isolated herself from the media.
