The phenomenon, mostly in Europe, spawned from a ringtone. It was produced by Jamba! (aka Jamster) and it blew up after it released “Axel F,” a cover of Harold Faltermeyer’s “Axel F.”
It only charted once on Billboard’s Hot 100 (and even then, it peaked at #50). It had much better success in the UK, with “Axel F” reaching number one and pushing Coldplay out of the number one spot.
Crazy Frog went on to release a few singles and three studio albums, Crazy Hits, More Crazy Hits, and Everybody Dance Now, before quietly disappearing in 2009.
On December 10, 2021, Crazy Frog made his return with his comeback single, “Tricky”
