One of the godfathers of Rock & Roll, Pine Top Smith helped name the Boogie Woogie genre with his smash hit, Pinetop’s Boogie Woogie.
Along with Meade “Lux” Lewis and Blind Roosevelt Graves, Pinetop was a groundbreaker at recording boogie-style music. In fact, he and Lux probably worked out some of the boogie sound together, when they shared an apartment in the 1920s.
