About Christie

“Christie” is a British band, formed in 1969 by Jeff Christie (guitar, vocals, keyboards), Vic Elmes (guitar) and Michael Blakley (drums, piano).
In 1970, Jeff Christie offered his composition “Yellow River” to The Tremeloes. They recorded it but didn’t release it. Tremeloes member Alan Blakley and his brother Michael decided to let Jeff Christie use the Tremeloes' backing track. The result was that “Christie” with “Yellow River” had a UK number one hit in June 1970 plus made number one in 26 other countries.
