Born into a small Minnesotan town devoid of live entertainment, Chris Jewson spent his earliest years finding musical influence online from the likes of Green Day and Mac Miller. After spending his adolescence honing in on his writing and moving to the Madison, Wisconsin area, Jewson uploaded his first music video in high school to his YouTube channel.
With songs like “Mic Check” and remixes of hits like Gorillaz’ “Feel Good Inc.,” Jewson’s work with his close circle of friends over the year brought forth the attention of Madison’s hip hop community. The crew took the city by storm at the 2017 Madison Hip Hop Awards, receiving accolades for their videography, production, and musical prowess.
After releasing a string of singles and more music videos over the upcoming months, Jewson began and finished his debut project, Thoughts of December, just before graduation. With the single “Hotel Rooms,” Jewson teamed up with Madison engineer Dash D.U.B. and producer Devinci Beats to create the record and begin a leap into Chris’s career.
Jewson was deemed Madison’s Best Hip Hop/R&B act by Madison Magazine and set off to further his musicianship at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. There, Jewson quickly met with the local musicians and began finishing up his follow up EP with the help of engineer, producer, and songwriter Zachary Miller.
The “Rookie of the Year” artist set off running into 2020 with the release of the song “Rooftop” and small posse-cut “As It Goes,” featuring Madison area artists HUNTER and Gabriel David. These songs served as the first look into Jewson’s newest release, The Last Summer, expected to be available in June of 2020.
