About Chilli

Rozonda Ocielian Thomas, better known by her alias Chilli, is one-third of the critically acclaimed R&B girl group TLC.

Born in Columbus, Georgia on February 27, 1971, she first entered the industry as a backup dancer for the duo Damian Dame before joining TLC to take the place of founding member Crystal Jones. The name “Chilli” was given to her in order for the TLC acronym to still make sense.

Within the group, Chilli’s role was usually performing either the pre-chorus or bridge sections of their songs, but she occasionally sang lead vocals, with the Grammy Award-winning #1 pop hit “No Scrubs” being a notable example.

In 2000, Chilli began working on solo songs for an album that was reportedly entitled Bi-Polar but it ended up being shelved. While several songs from the project leaked over time such as “Game Proof” with T-Boz and “Straight Jack” with Missy Elliott, Chilli would release her official debut solo single “Dumb, Dumb, Dumb” in 2008.

She also made appearances on TV shows such as Living Single, That 70s Show and Single Ladies. She even had her own reality show on VH1 entitled What Chilli Wants, which ran for two seasons from 2010 to 2011. The show followed her dating life several years after her relationships with Usher and producer Dallas Austin, with whom she has a son named Tron.
