About Charles Earland

Born Charles Earland on May 24th, 1941 in Philadelphia. Earland was a US soul-jazz and jazz-funk saxophonist and organ player. He was most know for his albums “Black Talk” and “Black Drops”. Charles' way of playing earned him the nick name “The Great Burner”. During his career he played with artists such as Hubert Laws, Idris Muhammad, Houston Person, Ron Carter and more. He died at age 58 on December 11th, 1999, the morning after a gig in Kansas City.
