Carlos Dengler is best known as the founding bassist and keyboardist of New York post-punk revivalists Interpol, departing the band in 2010.
Dengler was studying philosophy at New York University when his then-gothic fashion sense caught the eye of guitarist Daniel Kessler, inspiring him to ask Dengler if he could play an instrument – luckily, he could, and they formed what would become Interpol in 1998.
He later quit the band after recording parts for the band’s fourth, self-titled album, dissatisfied with touring and dealing with substance issues. He began studying acting and appeared in stage plays, but largely disappeared from the public spotlight for a number of years.
He briefly returned to the music world in 2016 with a guest stint in Late Night with Seth Meyers’s house band, then in 2022 released his debut solo album – a water-themed new age record called Aqueduct.
Carlos Dengler's first album Aqueduct released on Fri Apr 15 2022.
