About Canaan Smith

Canaan Smith is an American country music singer born in Dillsboro IN and raised in Williamsburg VA. He moved to Nashville TN in 2009 and began his career as a songwriter. He has written songs for the likes of Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Cole Swindell, RaeLynn, Mason Ramsey, and Love And Theft.
In 2012, Smith released his debut single, “We Got Us” which reached #53 on the country music charts. Two years later, Smith released his hit single, “Love You Like That”, which peaked at #1 on US Country Airplay charts. Canaan Smith EP was released in March of 2015, and the full album titled Bronco followed three months later. “Hole In A Bottle” was released to radio as a single in August of that year, and it peaked at #23 on US Country Airplay. In 2017, Smith released “Like You That Way” and “This Night Back”, but neither single was as successful as his previous work.
In 2018, Smith parted ways with his old record label, Mercury Nashville. A couple of months later, he signed onto Tree Vibez Music – a label founded by the members of Florida Georgia Line. After a string of promo singles, Smith released “Colder Than You”, the first single off his second album. He later released his second album, High Country Sound in April 2021.
