Camelle Hinds (1957- ) is a British singer/songwriter best known for his work in the UK brit-funk movement of the early 80s.
Hinds first grew to prominence as the bass player for London post-disco band Central Line, best known for their hits “Walking Into Sunshine” and “Nature Boy”. After Central Line broke up in 1983, Hinds pursued a career as a session musician, playing for artists like The The, David Sylvian, The Style Council and Heaven 17.
In 1987, Hinds formed the group Hindsight with former Central Line bandmate Henry Defoe. They scored a #1 club hit with “Small Change” and were featured on a half-hour documentary special for B.E.T. in 1988. However, the band dissolved shortly after.
Through the end of the 20th century, Hinds continued working as a session musician before hanging it up for some time to pursue a Masters degree in music business management. He now works as a tutor for the London College of Creative Media while furthering his solo career and producing & writing for others.
