Bruce Neal Smith (born December 14th, 1960) is a prominent American musician most notable for his work as a drummer for The Pop Group, a British post-punk band formed in the city of Bristol, where he was also raised and educated. Smith has also been a member of the New Age Steppers and Rip Rig + Panic, as well as playing drums for London punk group The Slits between 1978 and ‘79. Presently, he plays bass for Public Image Ltd., an experimental rock band fronted by Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols. Notably, Smith was briefly married to Swedish singer-songwriter and Massive Attack collaborator Neneh Cherry in the early 80s.
