About Black Sea Dahu

Initially known as JOSH, Black Sea Dahu is a band hailing from Zürich, formed in 2010, consisting of the following six members:

Janine Cathrein (Vocals & Guitar)
Vera Cathrein (Guitar & Vocals)
Simon Cathrein (Cello & Vocals)
Silvan Schmidt (Drums)
Pascal Eugster (Bass)
Ramon Ziegler (Keyboard)

The name “Black Sea Dahu” was inspired by a part of lyric from their song called “White Creatures” which states “Oh, open black sea, let me in” and a legendary creature known in Switzerland as Dahu which resembles a mountain goat whose legs are of unequal length. The reason for which they were forced to change was that it was already taken by a lot of artists and also, it’s a name.

The name change was soon followed by the release of their debut album as Black Sea Dahu called White Creatures released on October 2018 which reached 22nd in Swiss charts following its release. Almost a year after the release of their debut album, followed the release of their first EP as Black Sea Dahu called No Fire in the Sand. Then, 3 years later, we saw the release of their third album I Am My Mother at Febraury of 2022, which reached 8th in Swiss charts following its release and the release of the second EP – Orbit on November of 2022.
