William Thomas “Billy” Murray (May 25, 1877 – August 17, 1954) was a popular singer in the United States in the early 20th century and was a leading artist of the 1900s. He was born in May 1877 in Philadelphia to immigrant parents from County Kerry, Ireland.
Some of his most popular songs include “Casey Jones”, “The Grand OId Rag”, “By The Light Of The Silvery Moon”, “Harrigan”, “Meet Me In St. Louis, Louis”, and “Yankee Doodle Boy”.
Murray was well known for vaudeville but also recorded a large number of songs and made a record for almost every record label of the era.
