Big Shaq is a character played by British comedian Michael Dapaah. He has featured in multiple online skits before going viral through his “Fire in the Booth” freestyle.

Though commonly referred to as a parody of Grime, this is actually false. Big Shaq is a parody of UK Drill and “roadman” culture, hence why most of his songs have UK Drill beats, not grime beats. Grime is a fast electronic genre typically around 137-142 bpm. UK Drill is similar though far darker and takes a lot more influence from Chicago Drill & trap music.
