Beverly Glenn-Copeland is a singer-songwriter, screenwriter, and playwright from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He studied at McGill University in Montreal and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Glenn-Copeland has lived in Canada the last four decades and currently resides in Ontario.
Glenn-Copeland pursued a thirty year career providing music-writing and acting services in children’s television shows such as, Mr. Dressup, Sesame Street, and Shining Time Station. Glenn-Copeland has also written music and scores for films and musicals, including Montreal Main, Sea Dream and Barnyard Brains.
In 2008, Glenn-Copeland wrote a musical adaptation of the folk tale The Mother’s Tree. In 2015, he produced and wrote the music for The Raven of Eirean Mhor, an original play by Elizabeth Copeland, his wife and creative partner.
In 1970, Glenn-Copeland released Beverly Glenn-Copeland Album, which was remastered and re-released in 2018, along with a compilation album of older songs titled Beverly Copeland. In 1986, he released the electronic synth album Keyboard Fantasies, which newspaper The Stranger placed on their list of 70 greatest recordings by women.
In 2002, Glenn-Copeland came out as a transgender man. He released Primal Prayer under the name Phynix in 2004. He is also a practicing Buddhist.
