Berry Gordy (born in Detroit, Michigan on November 28, 1929) is the legendary founder of Motown Records and its sister labels, Tamla and Mel-o-dy Records.
He is a multi-talented songwriter, producer and record/TV/film executive credited with introducing an unparalleled list of iconic African American superstars to mainstream audiences throughout the ‘60s,’ 70s, ‘80s and beyond. Their roster included such artists as:
