Benjamin Lasnier is a Danish producer and social media star, as well as a former pop singer. At age 13, Lasnier had amassed over 700K followers on Instagram, and with the success of his song “You’ve Got My Number” at the age of 15, he was lauded as “the Danish Justin Bieber.” As a hip-hop producer, Lasnier has collaborated with names like J.R. Rotem, Smash David, jetsonmade and !llMind, while also making songs for YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Lil Mosey, and Desiigner.
Lasnier comes from a normal European background, born in Luxembourg to a French father and Danish mother. He grew up in Denmark, speaking the languages of his parents, but most importantly English. His English skills proved useful after his cousin convinced him to create an Instagram account, starting his journey to stardom. Soon enough, he had thousands of young girls from all across the world, called Benzilers, adoring his selfies and lip-syncing videos.
Lasnier’s potential as a teen-pop singer was quickly recognized, and he soon started working on original music. His biggest hit “You’ve Got My Number” was released in 2014, and he was regularly performing shows in Europe. As his teenage years progressed, he put out an EP called Chill With You and released singles for his fans to enjoy. In 2017, Lasnier represented Luxembourg in the North Vision Song Contest with his song “Somebody to Hurt”, placing in spot 21 out of the 49 entries.
At age 19, Lasnier stripped himself of his pop appeal and rebranded himself as a hip-hop producer. The majority of his songs and Instagram posts were deleted off the internet, and beats were being uploaded onto his YouTube channel. The connections from his pop career led him to produce alongside recognized producers and rappers. In 2020, Lasnier gained some attention for filing a copyright infringement lawsuit against Travis Scott, and all the engineers who worked on “HIGHEST IN THE ROOM,” for allegedly sampling his guitar sequence from an Instagram post.
