Beatrice Garland

Born in 1938 in Oxford
After completing a degree in English Literature, worked in the NHS (and still does) as a clinician and teacher.
She won both the National Poetry Prize and the Strokestown International Poetry Prize and was short-listed for the inaugural Picador Poetry Prize
She has a particular interest in what motivates young men and women to give up their own lives in the service of a higher cause.
