Battles is an experimental rock band formed in 2002 in New York City, known for their heavy use of loops and rhythmic post-rock style. The band consists of guitarist-keyboardist Ian Williams (formerly of Don Caballero) and drummer John Stanier (formerly of Helmet). Vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Tyondai Braxton left the band in 2010 due to conflicts over touring, while bassist-guitarist and pedal specialist Dave Konopka left the band in 2018.
