BASHI is a 15 year-old rapper, sound engineer and drummer from South-East London. BASHI, real name Joshua Bashford, was diagnosed with depression in late 2016 and quickly found listening to music as a form of escapism from the harsh reality he faced on a daily basis. However, it wasn’t until mid-2018 when BASHI started recording and superficially producing his own tracks in an attempt to showcase his skills to a close friend who later betrayed him. As time went on, this betrayal slowly took its toll on the upcoming rapper, leading him to take the music he was creating to a much more serious level to try and make the “close friend” jealous for turning on him as they went on to make a mockery of everything Joshua did. As BASHI started to gain some momentum, he ventured to bring high quality music to his fans. Everything Joshua Bashford writes about revolves around past experiences with people he used to call his friends to try and ease himself and get every wrong-doing out so people know.
Joshua released his debut mixtape, Dreams, in mid-2018, followed by two more mixtapes titled Day and Night and most recently Bad Vibes. Since mid-2018, he has released 19 singles with the most recent being “Thinking” to bring hype for his debut album, One, releasing as a commemoration towards one year of musical commitment and a manifestation of the emo-trap sound he has developed. – 26th July 2019
