Sakamoto Maaya [last name, first] (坂本 真綾), was born on March 31, 1980, in Itabashi City, Tokyo, Japan, is a voice actress, actress and singer who debuted as a voice actor voicing Chifuru in Little Twins in 1992, though she is most known for her role as Hitomi Kanzaki (神崎・ひとみ) in the 1996 adaptation of 天空のエスカフローネ(Visions of Escaflowne); Sakamoto simultaneously made her singing debut as she sang the theme song 約束はいらない (Don’t Need Your Promises).

Sakamoto married fellow Japanese voice actor Kenichi Suzumura (鈴村 健一) in 2011. The two had previously been coworkers and voiced a romantic pairing in 機動戦士ガンダムSEED DESTINY (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny) (Shinn Asuka and Lunamarie Hawke, respectively).
