About Avatar

Avatar is a metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. Avatar was formed in 2001 by drummer John Alfredsson and guitarist Jonas Jarlsby. They were later introduced to lead singer Johannes Eckerström, and finally bassist Henrik Sandelin and guitarist Simon Andersson just in time for the release of their first demo, Personal Observations, released January 18, 2004. Their debut EP, 4 Reasons to Die, was released later that year on December 19, 2004.

Avatar’s first full-length album, Thoughts of no Tomorrow, debuted January 25, 2006 through Gain Records. Following the release, Avatar toured with Impaled Nazarene and later with Evergrey.

Schlacht, Avatar’s second full-length album, was released the following year on October 24, 2007. Following the release, they performed at Sweden’s Rock Festival in 2008 as well as toured with Obituary and later with Hardcore Superstar.

On November 20, 2009, Avatar released their third studio album, Avatar. This is the last album that guitarist Simon Andersson recorded with the band. He departed the band in December 2011 and was replaced by guitarist Tim Öhrström.
