AtaQ was the name of a community choir associated with gospel singer Tonex, and signed to his independent MSS Records label.
The choir began as ATACC (Anointed Truth Apostolic Contemporary Chorale). Their sole album You Betta Ask Somebody was released independently in 1996. Most of the songs were written in 1994, and a number of them would resurface on Tonex’s Out The Box album in 2004, with AtaQ being reformed as the group The Peculiar People.
Though the group toured with him, made an appearance on his Pronounced Toe-Nay album, and had a single song “Triumph” on the compilation album MSS Dynasty: Hostile Takeover, they never released any more albums.
