ASTU is an Eritrean R&B/soul singer-songwriter based in Oakland, CA. Part retro soul, part nineties R&B pastiche, part New Wave-inspired synth-pop, ASTU’s music refuses to pledge allegiance to a single vibe.

The depth and complexity of her buttery alto on her 2018 debut EP, Patterns, has garnered critical acclaim from Afropunk, Earmilk, KQED & more. ASTU released her full length album ALTAR is 2020 and stated that “this album is filled with me..every part of me..the parts I’ve been too afraid to see most of my life. and I want to give it to you.”
