Growing up in Greenwich, Connecticut, Asanté identified his ability to sing in church at age 3. He sung in the choir with his two sisters as a means to avoid wrongdoings.

Asanté is well known for his acting appearances in Alexa & Katie (2018), American Crime (2015) and Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. (2018), a film that played a role in his decision to pursue music.

Being inspired by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, The Jackson 5, and Brent Faiyaz, Asanté committed to making music as a freshman/sophomore in college at USC (University of Southern California). He presents a unique fusion of Neo – Soul and R&B but with a high sense of versatility. You can always expect a gift of joy upon listening to an Asanté track!
