Famed for his romantic ballads, Armando Manzanero (1935-2020) was credited as a writer on more than 600 songs. After starting out as a session pianist, he quickly recorded his own album as a singer for RCA Victor. His 2001 album Duetos won a Latin Grammy Award, and in 2014 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys, the first Mexican to be so honored. He died of coronavirus complications.
