Ariel, Uki, Lukman, Reza, David was a one-off moniker used in 2012 by the members of the Bandung, Indonesia pop rock band formerly known as Peterpan for the release of their sole album Suara Lainnya.
Having made a deal with their former members to cease using the name Peterpan by 2009, vocalist Nazril “Ariel” Irham, rhythm guitarist Uki Kautsar, lead guitarist Lukman Hakim, drummer Ilsyah Ryan Reza, and keyboardist and new member David Albert commenced work on a new album with a new band name that they had already chosen. However, Ariel’s imprisonment on alleged charges of distributing pornographic material in 2010 put the album and announcement of the new name on hold.
While waiting for Ariel’s release, the other members of the band began working on rearranged instrumental versions of select Peterpan songs. Meanwhile, on Ariel’s 30th birthday in 2011, the band’s label released “Dara”, a song that was credited to him but also involved the band. Using Ariel’s vocals that he recorded in prison, the band arranged and recorded the rest of the track.
On May 29, 2012, with Ariel still in jail, the band released Suara Lainnya and credited it to Ariel, Uki, Lukman, Reza, David. The album’s lead single was “Cobalah Mengerti”, the only song to feature vocals, with Morina “Momo” Sinaga, then-vocalist of the band Geisha doing the honors. “Dara” was also included on the album as a bonus track.
A few months after Suara Lainnya’s release, Ariel was freed from prison, and the band announced their new name, Noah, thus bringing their brief time as Ariel, Uki, Lukman, Reza, David to an end, with Suara Lainnya now being credited to Noah on digital platforms.
