Anteros is a British pop band from London, England. The band is composed of vocalist Laura Hayden, bassist Joshua Rumble, guitarist Jackson Couzens, and drummer Harry Balazs.

The group first formed when Hayden and Rumble met in Spain in 2014 to write and record their first song together, with Charles Monneraud and Harry Balazs joining in Spring of 2015. The band released their self-titled debut studio album in January 2015 and their first single, “Breakfast,” not long after in early 2016. This single turned into their first EP, released in September 2016 with the added tracks “The Beat” and “Ring Ring.”

Anteros has been described as having old rock inspiration, combining indie beat with the familiar jam of the bass, dreamy and faded tune, and a deceptively happy tone to the sad stories of their lyrics. Asked about this contrast between tone and subject matter, Anteros explained:

We love to disguise sadness behind happy songs. If you’re sad, the best medicine is laughter, so we like and have fun with our songs, regardless of the subject matter. We call it Bitter Dream Pop."

Their tracks have been said to be “washed in colourful melodies, sugary sweet vocals and upbeat guitar riffs.”

When asked about some of their biggest musical influences, they noted The Cardigans, The Cure, and Blur.
