Hailing from Nashville and now based in Los Angeles, Anne Dereaux started writing music in college—it was one of her creative outlets in addition to architecture and poetry. In 2015, a series of pivotal moments led Anne to turn her passion into a career, leaving her job at an architecture firm to pursue music full time.
Between her acting debut in the season one finale of HBO’s most recent mystery-drama, Big Little Lies, where she appeared alongside the show’s all-star cast (Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman), and the recent warm reception of “mo(u)rning,” Anne and her “beautiful vocals are taking center stage.” (Artistic Manifesto) Within days of releasing the audio, Rick Rubin invited her to his legendary Shangri-La studios for a hang session.
For Book of Lolita, Anne collaborated with renowned producers including FKi of Mad Decent (Post Malone, Travis Scott, 2Chainz); Trakmatik of Roc Nation (Elijah Blake, Common); Soraya La Pread (A.CHAL, JoJo); and REO (Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne).
The Fader called Book of Lolita “a vivid tale of overcoming pain,” an accurate description of the debut 6-song narrative-driven EP.
