Anne Briggs is an English folk singer – or she was, in her youth. Never achieving much commercial success, Briggs stopped performing and recording after putting out a handful of albums. Despite this lack of commercial success and despite the fact that she is not often cited among the great figures of the English folk revival, she was an influential figure on the scene in the 60s. Her singing style was inspiration for many folk singers of her generation and beyond.
