About Anderson Burrus

Anderson Burrus (born August 6, 1992) is an American MC, battle rapper, music producer, and YouTuber from Raleigh, North Carolina. Anderson got his start rapping and producing beats in 2012, posting original songs and remixes to YouTube and Bandcamp. While attending college at North Carolina State University, he began designing flyers for the university’s hip-hop cyphers, and he started participating in the cyphers beginning in 2015. From there, Anderson started battle rapping in 2016 on the North Carolina-based AVL Battle League, where he quickly gained popularity for his stand-up comedy approach to performing, his knowledge of flow and delivery, and his layered “nerd bars”. His notoriety on AVL Battle League led to him competing on other leagues like King of the Dot and iBattleTV.

In addition to battling, Anderson also works as a videographer and video producer for some of iBattle’s events, as well as directing & filming battles for Midnight Madness, a short-lived battle promotion established (and later dissolved) in 2022 by veteran battle rappers Tsu Surf, Bill Collector, and Jakkboy Maine.

In 2020, Anderson was selected by iBattleTV league owner Lexx Luthor as one of Lexx’s 14 picks for Season 1 of URL’s latest talent development program, The Crucible. During the Crucible, Anderson emerged as a standout competitor with his battles against Zeke, MVP, and J2 as he moved through Phase 1, 2, and 3 as one of the top 16 battlers of the program.

On January 16, 2022, during Champion’s deliberation for battle rap’s 2021 Champion of the Year, Anderson was named as one of the top six MCs in the Crucible who qualified for a Rookies vs. Vets battle. Eight days prior, on January 8, Anderson ended up battling Swave Sevah in a Rookies vs. Vets battle to open up URL’s Super Fight 6 card. In terms of votes, according to the Champion of the Year survey, Anderson placed 5th in the competition, after MVP, J2, runner-up Elijah Strait and Champion Kyd Slade, the latter of whom walked away with the $10,000 grand prize.
