Ami Faku (born Amanda Faku) is a South African singer from Port Elizabeth. She started singing at the age of six, and has been influenced by jazz, soul, and R&B.
Her appearances on season 2 of the The Voice South Africa—beginning with a performance of John Legend’s “Ordinary People"—introduced her to a wider South African audience. After The Voice, she adopted the more distinctive stage name Ami Faku.
Her first single, “Ndikhethe Wena”, came in August of 2018, followed by “Ubuhle Bakho” in March 2019, and “Love Drunk” in June. In September 2019, South African label Vth Season released her first album: Imali.
Ami Faku has also sung lead vocals on several house tracks—most notably Sun-El Musician’s hit “Into Ingawe”, and De Mogul SA’s “Ungowam”.
