Amanda Djamila Kretz Lameche (born March 24, 1985) is a French-born Swedish former singer born in French Alps, France. She is the sister of Anaïs Lameche, who was one of the contributing of the former Swedish pop girl group, Play. She also co-wrote the group’s debut single, “Us Against the World”, which became their biggest hit to date, peaking to #14 on the Swedish Singles charts and #10 on the Billboard Hot Singles Sales charts.
She started her career at the age of ten after being discovered by the Swedish producer and songwriter, Anders Bagge, and would eventually become one of her songwriters.
Lameche eventually signed with Maverick Records in 2000, and was featured on the soundtrack to the movie, Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2000), with her song, “You Don’t Stand a Chance”.
In early 2001, Amanda Lameche released her debut and only single, “Everybody Doesn’t”. The single peaked to #81 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, becoming her first and only entry on any Billboard charts.
Later that summer, Lameche released her debut and only studio album of the same name. The album did not chart on any Billboard charts, and was a commercial failure due to lack of promotion. However, she did become an opening act for boy bands like *NSYNC and O-Town.
After the album’s poor performance, plans for a second single were cancelled, and this all led to Lameche getting dropped from Maverick Records.
In 2006, it was revealed that Amanda had signed with Signature Records, and was set to release an album that was due for a December 2007 release. However, no album was released then.
Since then, Amanda currently resides in France, and is living a quiet life outside of the public eye.
