Alison Shaw and Jim Shaw

Siblings Alison Shaw and Jim Shaw, from Portsmouth in Hampshire, England, are the founding members of the goth-rock dream-pop shoe-gaze band Cranes. Together, they compose all of Cranes' original repertoire and share production credits.

Both became multinstrumentalists, as the band’s line-up changed throughout the years, beginning in 1988. Alison is the lead singer and lyricist, additional bassist and in their later years, additional guitarist. Brother Jim, who started on bass and drums also took on guitar and keys as the band’s line-up changed throughout its 20+ year history.
