Algorithm was an underground alternative Hip-Hop trio in the early 2000s. With DJ Plex Luthor (a.k.a. Plex or Plexo) arranging the instrumentals and providing a vast majority of the group’s production, at the foreground was Dr. Faustus a.k.a. Doc Faust – a bi-racial MC with a very concise, stoic demeanor and delivery, along with lyrics which tended heavily towards geopolitics and modern American Imperialism, specifically. The third member, Seth P. Brundel, was a jack-of-all-trades for the group – as he provided some of the production, a fair amount of the writing, and even contributed several verses throughout the album – some in English, some Spanish – demonstrating the full diversity of the trio.
Dr. Faustus is no longer an active rapper or musician, while Seth P. Brundel has continued to release both solo projects, as well as contribute to other underground Hip-Hop artists. It appears that Plex Luthor may still be active in some aspect of music, though he does not seem to have been officially credited on any formal releases in over a decade.
