Albert Lee, aka Mr. Telecaster, hasn’t founded any famous bands. He hasn’t recorded any really big hits. Or…well…any hits of any kind, ever.
But that famous country or rock artist you like from the sixties and seventies? They probably played with him, or were influenced by him, or someone from their band played with him, or something.
For example, he played on Gemini Suite, the first solo album by Jon Lord, keyboardist of Deep Purple. He did session work for for Buddy Holly’s band The Crickets. He played with Emylou Harris, Eric Clapton, The Everly Brothers, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Alvin Lee (no relation), and others. He was Guitar Player Magazine’s “Best Country Guitarist” five years in a row.
