AFI (A Fire Inside) is a multi-genre rock band originally from Ukiah, California, formed in 1991. Their genre was first identified as hardcore punk, before making a switch to alternative rock after their album Sing The Sorrow. The band has had numerous chart hits.
Their 2006 album, Decemberundeground, became a huge hit, selling about 182,000 copies in its first week of release. The album hit number 1 on the Billboard charts.
The lead singer and frontman, Davey Havok, is part of several other side projects—some involving other AFI members. Those bands include Blaqk Audio (alongside guitarist Jade Puget), XTRMST and DREAMCAR, his latest collaboration.
Currently, the band is formed by Davey Havok (main vocalist and lyricist), Jade Puget (guitarist), Adam Carson (drummer), and Hunter Burgan (bassist).
