Academy is a musical group formed of two artist, K Muni and ND.

The 2 artists were always a duo from a young age, going to the same primary school (St Joseph’s Nation School Longford),
(St Michael’s Boys Nations School), the same secondary school(Templemichael College).

At first they were just freestyling in the group chat with their friends and started as a joke, and they started to make a
song which turned out to be their hit that blew them up ‘Longford Town’ released in 2020.

Their main artists which they got inspiration are Loski and MizOrMac from the UK drill group ‘Harlem Spartans’ this
influenced them to make more drill-type songs.

They had an altercation in the past with boys from another county which ended with them boys coming to Longford.
they felt as if they were blacklisted in the community because of that violence, mothers of their friends saying they
don’t want their children hanging out with K Muni and ND. If they were going to be something in the music scene
they would have to stop that. To get out of that hole that they dug themselves into they say they ‘disappeared’ for
a while, focused on their studies and got their priorities straight.

Their release of the song ‘Longford Town’ had made an impact culturally on the town and made the community come
together.

But being raised and growing up in Longford in terms of music and being a creative artist there is a major disadvantage
because of the lack of resources and something that K Muni and ND want to do is provide resources for the next generation
coming up

Being from Longford, they had no artist to pave the way for them, and show them the way, but that doesn’t necessarily
mean a bad thing. K Muni and ND can pave the way for the next generation of younger artists that want to do music.
The key think is to keeping your head down and being focused and not getting yourself into trouble because the less
trouble you are in, the more time you have to focus on your craft and grow as an artist and creator.

Religion plays an important role in K Muni’s life, being raised and going to church gave him something to rely on.
