A&M Records was an independently founded American record company founded by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss in 1962.
In 1999, it was merged with Universal Music Group to create Interscope Geffen A&M, a unit consisting of A&M, Geffen and Interscope Records.
Less than eight years later, A&M was relaunched as A&M Octone Records, before being absorbed by Interscope again in 2013.
