About A Day To Remember

A Day To Remember is a post-hardcore/pop-punk band formed in Ocala, Florida in 2003. The band name was coined by a drummer who was kicked out of the band after two performances that same year.

After establishing a regional following, ADTR signed with the Georgia indie label Indianola and released their first album, which initially sold 8,000 copies. Victory Records soon came calling and released their sophomore album For Those Who Have Heart which sold 20,000 copies. Their third album Homesick launched the band into national stardom, selling 250,000 copies (eventually selling half a million by 2016). Their fourth album (and final under Victory) What Separates Me From You also eventually sold half a million copies and charted in the US, the UK and Australia.

In 2008, ADTR demanded unpaid royalties from Victory Records. It became public knowledge in 2011 that the band had formally filed a lawsuit against Victory and wanted out of their five album contract. In 2013, a jury sided with the band and Victory was told to pay ADTR $4 million and gave the band the right to self-release their fifth album Common Courtesy, without ties to Victory. The album made the top 60 in the US, UK, Austria, Germany and Australia and as of 2016 had sold a quarter of a million units.

Bad Vibrations followed in 2016 and gave the band its highest chart success to date, reaching the top 10 in six countries including a #2 preak in the US. Its lead single “Paranoia” hit #1 on the UK Rock Chart and #8 on the US Rock Chart. That same year, ADTR launched an annual concert they call Self Help Festival, described as: “…just a place where you can go and enjoy music that talks about real world problems that actually affect you … we’re just trying to build a community for this genre.”

In 2019, ADTR collaborated with the DJ Marshmello on the song “Rescue Me” – their first appearance on the US Pop Chart. Later that year, “Degenerates” was released with the announcement the band had signed with Fueled By Ramen. You’re Welcome, their seventh album, was preceded by several singles before its early 2021 release. Its fifth single “Everything We Need” reached #2 on the US Rock Chart that June.
