About 5 Seconds of Summer

5 Seconds of Summer is an Australian pop-rock band that consists of Luke Hemmings on lead vocals, Calum Hood on bass, Ashton Irwin on drums, and Michael Clifford on guitar. They formed in 2011 and rose to international fame when One Direction found their covers of songs on YouTube in 2013. Shortly afterward, they released their award-winning single “She Looks So Perfect.” In June 2018, the band made history by being the first band to have their first 3 albums go to number 1.

Their first EP, Somewhere New, was released December 7, 2012, and featured “Unpredictable,” “Out of My Limit,” “Beside You,” and “Gotta Get Out.”

The band’s self-titled debut studio album was released June 27, 2014. “She Looks So Perfect,” “Don’t Stop,” “Amnesia,” and “Good Girls” were released as singles, each earning a music video. “Beside You” was remastered and put on the album.

Their sophomore album, Sounds Good Feels Good, came out on October 23, 2015. The album was preceded by the lead single “She’s Kinda Hot,” which gave fans a preview of the band’s new pop-punk sound. “Jet Black Heart” and “Hey Everybody!” were also singles from the album.

In early 2018, they broadcasted their new sound and released two singles, “Want You Back” and “Youngblood,” in preparation for their third album. They released their third studio album Youngblood on June 15, 2018, topping charts worldwide within hours of its release. “Lie to Me” and “Valentine” were also made singles after the album’s release.

In May 2019, 5SOS debuted “Easier,” the first offering from their fourth studio album, CALM. On August 23 of that year, they released “Teeth” as the second single from the album, and in February 2020, they released “No Shame” as the third single. “Old Me” was released on March 6th as the fourth single, and “Wildflower” was released on March 25th as the fifth and last single from the album, released March 27, 2020.

In December 2021, as a celebration for their 10th anniversary, the band released a 76-minute special on YouTube, called The 5 Seconds of Summer Show. They have also released a song called “2011” and 10 podcast episodes, each one talking about a specific year in their journey.

However, the first single from their fifth studio album, 5SOS5, was only released on March 2, 2022. “COMPLETE MESS” is a highlight on 5 Seconds of Summer’s career, as it’s the first song written and produced only by the band. The album came out on September 23, 2022, and also features singles “Take My Hand,” released on April 1st, “Me, Myself & I,” released on May 11, “BLENDER,” released July 13, and “Older,” released September 7. “Bad Omens” was the last single on 5SOS5, and its music video premiered on September 26, 2022.
