About 3 Inches of Blood

3 Inches of Blood was a Vancouver-based metal band, best known for songs such as “Deadly Sinners” and “Destroy the Orcs”, which were both featured in multiple video games. They rose to prominence with the release of their second album, Advance and Vanquish. Their discography spans five albums, with their last album, Long Live Heavy Metal, having been released in 2012, though they toured until 2015.

The lead singer for all of their records, Cam Pipes, has a distinct voice that has been compared to Rob Halford of Judas Priest.

Employing lyrics that focus on mythology and Tolkien-esque folklore, many critics believed that they were a parody band, which in many ways led to the de-legitimization of the band in popular circles. Cam had this to say in an interview with TGSB regarding their identity as a parody band:

It offends me especially because 3 Inches of Blood got dogged on and perceived as being a parody or a joke band and it was totally baseless. When a band like Steel Panther comes out that is openly a joke and they’re embraced. That really pisses me off. Steel Panther’s very existence offends me.
