About 1000 Homo DJs

1000 Homo DJs is one of several side projects formed by Ministry’s Al Jourgensen. Something the owner of Wax Trax Records reportedly told Jourgensen inspired the name:

No one’s gonna buy this. It’ll take one thousand homo DJs to play this for one person to buy it.

Members also included Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra, Rigor Mortis guitarist Mike Scaccia, industrial rock drummer William Reiflin, Local H drummer Brian St. Clair and Nine Inch Nails founder Trent Reznor.

Four songs were released between 1988 and 1990 including a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Supernaut”. The track was originally sung by Reznor, but after his then-label TVT Records wouldn’t allow its release, he told Jourgensen, “Redo it, save yourself the hassle.”

Reznor’s version of “Supernaut” saw unofficial release in 1993 on two-song Canadian CD. It was officially released on a compilation the following year.
